Abstract

Religio-political conflicts have long been a recurring phenomenon in the Middle East, with Kurdistan and its neighboring territories serving as a focal point for many of these tumultuous events. This region, encompassing the ancient lands of Zagros and parts of Mesopotamia, has not only witnessed the birth of major religions and civilizations but has also been a constant battleground for diverse conflicts. These conflicts persist in contemporary times, albeit taking on different forms and involving a complex interplay of religious, ethnic, nationalistic, and geopolitical factors. In the midst of this turmoil, various actors seek to rewrite political history to align with their own interpretations and agendas. To gain a nuanced understanding of these ongoing conflicts, it is imperative to examine them within the broader context of the region's rich and multifaceted history
