THE WINNING FORMULA: EVALUATING TOKOPEDIA AND SHOPEE MARKETPLACE PERFORMANCE WITH GOOGLE LIGHTHOUSE
Abstract
The rapid development of information technology has made websites an integral part of the social community, catering to various needs such as the dissemination of reliable information, online-based public services, and the emergence of marketplaces. The marketplace industry has experienced exponential growth, encompassing diverse products and services, including goods, music, food, books, household products, airline tickets, and online investments. Marketplaces offer a seamless platform for buyers to connect with providers, enabling immediate access to products and services while facilitating advertising and revenue sharing. In Indonesia, two prominent marketplace platforms, Tokopedia and Shopee, have emerged as major players in the e-commerce industry, with Shopee dominating the e-commerce application category and Tokopedia excelling in website visits.
This research aims to investigate the key factors contributing to the success and user experience of Tokopedia and Shopee in the Indonesian marketplace. The study will focus on evaluating the marketplace's performance in terms of delivery, store ratings, and online store response rates. Through comprehensive data analysis and comparison, the research seeks to uncover strategies employed by each platform to optimize their operations and provide a more superior shopping experience to users. By identifying the strengths and weaknesses of both Tokopedia and Shopee, this research aims to offer insights that can be leveraged by other marketplaces to enhance their own performances.
The methodology will involve gathering data from various sources, including app popularity data from Data.ai, App Store, and Google Play Store, as well as website visit rates. Utilizing both quantitative and qualitative analyses, the study will delve into the factors influencing user satisfaction, trust, and loyalty towards these marketplaces. Additionally, the research will consider consumer feedback, market trends, and industry benchmarks to provide a comprehensive understanding of Tokopedia and Shopee's competitive advantages.
The findings from this research can contribute to the advancement of marketplace platforms and inform stakeholders, including providers and buyers, on best practices to enhance marketplace operations and user experience.
