UNHOLY ALLIANCES: THE INTERPLAY OF ATHEISM, CHRISTIANITY, AND CAPITALISM IN MARX'S VISION
Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between atheism and communism through the lens of Karl Marx's political and social theory. The author argues that Marx adopted atheism as a strategic tool to challenge and ultimately destroy both Christianity and capitalism. The paper distinguishes between scientific and humanistic atheism and shows how Marx integrated the latter as an essential component of his theory of communism. The article investigates whether Marx was genuinely an atheist or whether he used atheism as a tool for his revolutionary movement. The article also explores the Catholic Church's reaction to the rise of communism and argues that contemporary social justice movements may be a disguised form of communism. Lastly, the article concludes by asserting that the manifestation of communism as a rejection of God and religion has led to untold tragedies and atrocities throughout history, including in the Soviet Union and Communist China.
