Abstract

Indonesia is prone to frequent seismic activities, necessitating careful planning and design of building structures to withstand earthquakes. This study aims to evaluate the performance of high-rise buildings in Indonesia using various seismic analysis methods. Time history analysis is employed to assess the behavior of building structures under specific earthquake recordings, focusing on displacement, drift, and base shear. The results of the analysis are used to determine the performance levels of the structures, including service limits, ultimate limits, and overall safety. Several case studies are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of earthquake-resistant designs. For example, the evaluation of a special moment-bearing frame structure with base insulators indicates a significant reduction in earthquake loads, enhancing the building's safety. Similarly, the response spectrum method and time history analysis are utilized to assess the seismic behavior of the SKA Pekan Baru Hotel Building, with results showing different performance levels in various directions.

The research also emphasizes the importance of considering regional seismic characteristics. In Ecuador, a region prone to high seismic danger, the soil effect and characteristics of accelerograms influence the design response spectrum for soft soils, necessitating future modifications. The analysis of seismic events in the northwestern coastal areas of Ecuador highlights the potential seismic hazards of shallow upper plate faults and the triggering of slow and shallow slippage seismic in separate subduction zone segments.

Various evaluation techniques, such as pushover analysis and dynamic time history analysis, are employed to determine the performance of building structures under seismic loads. The studies reveal that the seismic behavior of buildings meets safety standards, with performance levels falling within acceptable limits. The research further emphasizes the importance of periodic seismic safety evaluations for high-rise buildings, as they provide valuable information for planning and design purposes.
