DEVELOPING AN ELECTRONIC GATE SYSTEM FOR ATTENDANCE MONITORING AND ACCESS CONTROL USING FACIAL RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY
Abstract
Attendance monitoring and access control systems are essential in any organization. However, traditional paper-based systems have proven to be ineffective, time-consuming, and prone to errors. Biometric identification offers a unique and reliable solution, but some methods such as fingerprint scanning may be intrusive and have privacy concerns. This paper proposes a facial recognition-based electronic gate system for attendance monitoring and access control that is non-intrusive and has less privacy concerns. The system employs template matching with the OpenCV library, C# programming language, and an SQL server database for storing data. Additionally, a penalization system is introduced as a way of discouraging lateness, and weight verification is used to reduce tailgating.
