Abstract

Over the past decade, positive education has emerged as a transformative approach, showcasing its efficacy in enhancing student mental health through various interventions. While research has substantiated the positive outcomes associated with this approach, there remains a dearth of literature on the specific processes employed by schools to integrate positive education into their systems. This qualitative case study explores the positive education framework within a school setting, offering insights into its implementation before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Utilizing the SEARCH framework, encompassing strengths, emotional management, attention and awareness, relationships, coping, and habits and goals, the study delves into how the school navigated on-campus learning pre-COVID-19 and adapted during periods of remote learning amid the global pandemic. Findings underscore the significance of a positive education framework, staff training, well-being initiatives for both students and staff, and the establishment of a common language for positive education as crucial elements fostering a sustained culture of well-being. This case study aims to inspire schools to prioritize student well-being as a preventive measure during normalcy and as a tool for crisis management in challenging times.
